Enayat El-Zayyat’s only novel, Love and Silence, was published in 1967—three years after she ended her life, leaving behind a letter to her son and handwritten diaries that closely mirror her novel in tone, style, and emotion.

Manar El-Zohery
Manar El-Zohery is a documentary film director and Impact Producer, currently working at SEEMEDIA, a company specializing in the production of independent documentaries, archiving, and documentation.
She has directed several documentary films that have been screened at both local and international festivals. Her latest film, Mumken Netouh (We Can Be Lost), was showcased at the 20th Kazan International Festival and the Khouribga Documentary Film Festival. For this work, she received the Best Director Award at the Atlas International Festival (2024) and the Best Screenplay Award at the Zagora Arab-African International Film Festival. She was also honored by the Omani Cinema Society during the Egyptian Cinema Nights.
Her film Soul Will earned the Silver Award at the Erato Human Rights Film Festival and was a finalist in the Mentor Arabia competition.
Manar is a member of the Egyptian Filmmakers Syndicate – Directing Department, and a graduate of the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University as well as the Arab School of Cinema and Television. She also completed the Film Business Lab at the Durban Filmmart Institute and is a fellow of AFLAMUNA for Impact. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Filmmaking at the Arab Media Institute under the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport.
